LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (LDL) BLOOD TEST

The LDL blood test measures the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in your blood, often referred to as “bad” cholesterol. LDL carries cholesterol from the liver to the cells, but when levels are too high, it can build up in the walls of arteries, forming plaques that narrow and harden the arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis.

This increases the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke, making the LDL test a critical tool in assessing cardiovascular health.
